New members are always welcome: come along to a rehearsal and see what you think. Experienced singers who can read music are very welcome as we cover a great deal of music fairly quickly. However, we are also keen to encourage those with a suitable voice to join us regardless of experience and/or music reading skills—we are more than happy to help you to develop these skills.
We rehearse most Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm in the Whatton Jubilee Hall, Church St, Whatton, Nottingham NG13 9EL. Here’s a map.
Normally new singers come to rehearsals for three weeks and are then auditioned by our Director of Music, Deborah Davies—this is a straightforward and relaxed experience, totally painless! The audition is an opportunity for us to see which part you should be singing and how your voice fits in with the choir. Sight-reading is not essential as long as you are prepared to spend some time learning your music at home.
We welcome people from all backgrounds and communities. Come along, you’ll find that we are a friendly ‘family’ type choir where the singers care about each other. We sing wonderful music and endeavour to sing at the highest level possible but we are also very keen to have a lot of fun whilst achieving our musical aims.
