Nottingham Cathedral

Well done at Nottingham Cathedral  yesterday everyone. It was probably the most complicated Mass that we have ever sung, although a few of the Anglican Cathedrals have come close in the past. This one though, with all the Latin plainsong travelling along at top speed, was quite a challenge. However, we all rose to the challenge, sang extremely well, received a huge number of compliments, received praise and we have been asked if we would return on a regular basis. So, a brilliant job done by all.

Particular thanks to Elizabeth who played beautifully, (how I loved the improvisations – the one on ‘Godhead here in hiding’ was fabulous) and who gave such an enormous amount of help (having had such a background, playing for Masses in Quebec, was invaluable).

Many thanks also to Paul, for his great singing and also for helping me, via various meetings, to understand just how the service goes and for giving advice on so many logistical matters that make or break the flow of such a service.

As I said on Sunday, I was very proud of you. Deborah Davies 28th Oct 2024.
